Mobile vendor strategies - 05/04/07

UTStarcom and Globecomm have demonstrated an enterprise mobile network through a hosted satellite solution.

Nokia has joined the Linux Foundation and will help accelerating the growth of Linux. It announced that it has paid Qualcomm $20m for patent licenses covering 2Q07, and intends to make similar payments in the future. Nokia views this payment as fair and reasonable compensation for the use of relevant Qualcomm essential patents, but Qualcom added new litigation against Nokia last week.

Sagem will manufacture a Vodafone-branded handset to be sold across Vodafone markets from June 07.

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) said it targets 30% of the Chinese TD-SCDMA market.
