Apple and EMI drop DRM (digital rights management). Could be a new trend in coming months.

Taiwan Mobile has bought a majority stake in the fixed line operator Taiwan Fixed Network.

Apple' s iTunes and major record companies are under review by the European Commission. The charges are centered on anti competitive behavior and restrictive business practices (consumers can only buy music from the iTunes store in their country).

The World Bank has approved a financing package of $164.5m for Kenya, Burundi and Madagascar as the first tranche of the $424m Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (RCIP) for high-speed telecom connectivity in East and Southern Africa.
