Microsoft and HP will jointly invest $300m to develop applications for SMEs over the next three years. Joint efforts will focus on business intelligence, messaging, unified communications, content and collaboration management, as well as enterprise processes integration. In addition, HP plans to train 22,000 employees on products using Microsoft solutions.

Ericsson will buy Redback Networks for $2.1bn in cash to strengthen its position in edge IP router, all-IP infrastructures and related services solutions, such as IPTV.
