Siemens/ ADVA have jointly been awarded a $13m order to upgrade Eircom (Ireland) FTTC network.

Nortel has garnered a WiMAX contract to deploy the technology with Chungwa Telecom in Taiwan. Nortel will provide 802.16e-2005Wave 2 base stations with MIMO antenna technology. It will deploy its Metro Ethernet Technology for the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Ericsson has been selected by Versatel (Germany) for the nationwide deployment and integration of its all-IP next-generation access network. It will supply an optical transmission network to Central China Power Grid (China) or its East-West Corridor Optical Transmission Project. It will supply its EDA-based high-performance broadband solution to Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota ETB (Colombia).

Alvarion will supply a WiMAX network in Fiji for FINTEL (Fiji International Communications Limited).

A Nokia win in fixed network is rare enough to be noted. Nokia will supply a next-generation network (NGN) core network to Eastern Telecom (Philippines), including softswitch, VoIP Server solution, ADSL2+ and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA).

Alcatel Alenia Space has signed a €661m contract with Globalstar to provide 48 low-earth-orbit (LEO) Globalstar satellites.

Alcatel-Lucent has received an order from KT (S. Korea) for deploying its 1678 Metro Core Connect optical network solution and 1350 management suite. It has also received an order from Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom for its IMS-compliant solution for real-time, high-quality video telephony and video conferencing services between fixed broadband networks and 3G mobile networks. BT and Alcatel-Lucent have announced that they have signed a € 263m major managed services contract to maintain BT Global Services’ equipment and manage spares. It has been awarded a contract by Jiangsu Telecom (China Telecom) for a broadband access solution in Wuxi (China). Alcatel-Lucent will deploy a WiMAX trial network in Malausia for Maxis.

Motorola will deploy a WiMAX network for Agni Systems (Bangladesh) in Dhaka.

Optibase supplies IPTV video system to NASA (US).
