A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to Nokia/ London School of Economics, mobile TV should be customized and interactive and offer user-generated content. Its success should also be dependent upon the reception of big brands such as national TV networks. The market will only take off in 2008/2009 when standard and frequencies issues are solved.

  • According to Eurostat, 52% of European households had access to the internet during 1Q06.

  • e-Media Institute has founded that mobile TV users in the Asia Pacific region should reach 25m at the end of 2008, from 5m at the end of 2006.

  • IT Research in Sweden reports that the sales of 3G handsets in Sweden have doubled in 3Q06 to over 423k units for a 42% handset market share.

  • iSuppli said that the number of mobile phone subscribers worldwide will rise to 2.6bn this year and 4bn by 2010.

  • According to Kagan, there would be about 66m VOD households in the US by 2016.

  • According to Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), there were 1bn Bluetooth devices in the world now, with about 600m sold this year.
