Mobilkom Austria has been granted the third GSM/ UMTS license in Serbia for €320m.

Vimpelcom (Russia) has agreed to buy 90% of Armentel from OTE (Greece) for $463m.

Ten-Mobile (MVNO in France) will offer free of charge MSN Messenger on its handsets.

Proximus (Belgium) will launch Microsoft Windows Live Messenger within the next two weeks.

Orange and Vodafone have signed a 3G network sharing deal in Spain. The deal is expected to save 40% costs in base stations.

Movistar Argentina has launched a mobile TV service.

Emirates, the Dubai-based airliner, will launch in-light mobile phone calls in 01/07. The service will be limited to a single plane at the beginning, and will offer picocell-cellular voice and satellite-based data services.

Swisscom is said to be in talks with Vodafone to buy its 25% stake in Swisscom Mobile.

KDDI has taken the best benefit from the mobile phone number portability service introduced two weeks ago with increasing its subscriber base by over 200k new users, while DoCoMo added 40k new users and Softbank by only 24k new users.
