Samsung has shipped 30.7m (+17%) mobile phones in 3Q06; Sony Ericsson 20m units; LG 16.5m units for revenues of $2.2bn.

BenQ has decided to close operations in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. It could manufacture white-label phones for large and well-known customers, to avoid bankruptcy.

Palm is launching its Treo 680, in an attempt to reach the consumer market. It will also deliver Google Maps technology into its Treo smartphones.

Nokia has reduced the prices of many of its N-series multimedia phones by 5% -10% in Europe in order to increase sales.
