HP bought Mercury Interactive for $4.5bn. Mercury Interactive is focused on APM (Application performance management) and BTO (Business Technology Optimization) solutions for enterprises.

Motorola and Huawei are teaming up on infrastructure solutions. They plan to launch an “enhanced and extensive” suite of UMTS and HSPA infrastructure equipment to carriers.

Motorola and Wipro (India) have formed a joint venture called WMNetserv to offer outsourced telecom services. The JV will be headquartered in Europe, but a new Global Network Operation Center (GNOC) will be created in India.

The European Commission gave the merger of equals of Alcatel and Lucent its blessing.
