Alcatel won a deal worth around €26m from Maroc Telecom to provide a submarine cable network linking Morocco with France (Atlas Offshore system). It has successfully completed the deployment of a 5,000-km extension of the existing optical transport network of RAILTEL (India).It will also lay Africa’s latest submarine cable, the East Africa Submarine System (EASSy), a 9,900km cable system to connect 15 countries in southern and eastern Africa.

Tellabs has won Verizon' s order for its FiOS FTTP triple-play network.

NEC will provide a submarine cable system to link Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Nokia has been chosen as the supplier provider of free Wi-Fi services in New York City parks.

Cisco has been tapped by China Telecom to expand its 2006 ChinaNet network.

Nortel will supply HOT Telecom (Israel) with its IMS ready solution.
