Ericsson won a $450m order to develop and modernize Hanoi Telecom' s nationwide mobile network (Vietnam). It will migrate its CDMA network to GSM/EDGE.

ALU will supply a new Local Area Network (LAN) solution to the Ministry of Education in Turkey. It was awarded new multi-million Euro contracts with RTE (part of electricity utility in France) to deploy an integrated fiber-optic network. It signed an agreement with the Regione Liguria (Italy) to extend broadband coverage and help bridge the digital divide.

Motorola announced delivering IPTV in Germany to DT.

ECI Telecom will supply RACSA (Costa Rica) with its XDM Multi-Service platform.

UTStarcom announced a contract with Aksh Optifibre to deploy an IPTV solution for BSNL (India) in 20 cities.

Cisco will install its CRS-1 Carrier Routing System in Sify' s network (an Indian ISP).

Huawei is deploying the world' s largest next generation Home Location Register (HLR) solution for Telenor Pakistan. It won a $200m contract with Hanoi Telecom to deploy more than 500 base transceiver stations across Vietnam.

Intec is providing its Content Partner Management solution to Reliance (India).

Nortel has received orders from Bell Canada and from ACS (Alaska) for its 40Gbit/s solution. Nortel is claiming 21 wins for its 40-Gig technology in less than a year. Elsewhere, Nortel will provide a metro Ethernet solution to China Cable Television Network.

Corrigent has been awarded an IPTV infrastructure contract by Hanaro Telecom.

Samsung was awarded the biggest part of China Telecom' s CDMA order with 1m handsets.

AsiaInfo won a contract to develop an online charging system for China Telecom.
