Financial performance (2) - 23/08/08
Unusual presentation for company results, but there were too many companies in the past month to report their financial performance. So I tried to sum up main indicators in a short sentence for each company.
Sprint Nextel reported a net loss of $344m (vs loss of $19m) on revenues of $9bn, down 11%. Wireless revenues amounted to $7bn, but Sprint continues loosing customers (901k in the quarter). ARPU is flat at $56. Sprint warned that 3Q08 would be worse.
Qwest announced revenues of $3.4bn, down 2% (but -9% in voice services), and earnings of $188m.
Verizon provided solid results with total revenues of $24bn (+4%) and earnings of $1.9bn (+12%). The wireless division reported revenues of $12bn (+12%) with 68.7m customers. Impressive growth in mobile data revenues (+45%).
ATT said its revenues were $31bn, up 5% and earnings were $3.8bn (+31%). Wireless revenues were up 16% with earnings at $3.1bn (+91%). Data sales were up 52%, but ARPU remains flat at $50. 73m mobile customers.
MetroPCS posted $679m in revenues, up 23%, and earnings were $50m, down 14%.
KDDI announced revenues of $8bn, up 3% and net income of $679m, down 12%. KDDI has 30m customers.
Singtel reported net income of S$622m (down 5%) on revenues up 5% to S$2.7bn. Lower income due to lower contribution from foreign associates.
Telstra said its revenues reached A$24.8bn (+5%) for the fiscal year, with earnings of A$3.7bn, up 13%.
Telekom Malaysia provided results with revenues of MYR 2.1bn (flat) and earnings of MYR 273m, down 61%.
Hutchison Telecom posted revenues of $1.5bn, up 22%, and earnings of $150m, down 99,8%.
TIM Brazil announced a net loss of $22m (vs a profit of $22m), on revenues of $2bn (+4%). EBITDA fell 14% to $403m. TIM Brazil had 3.8m mobile customers (+23%).
Telecom Argentina posted earnings of $202m (+58%) on revenues of $1.7bn (+20%).
America Movil said it has earnings of $1.7bn (+25%) on revenues growing 17% and EBITDA +16%.
