Vimpelcom/ Altimo have bought a 90% stake in the Cambodian operator Sotelco.

China Telecom plans a $4bn CDMA network expansion (network it will take over from China Unicom).

China Unicom plans 3G capex of $14.6bn for the period 2009-2010. Some additional details are available on the future China Unicom company: the merger of China Unicom (GSM part) and China Netcom will create an heavyweight with 128m mobile users, 109m local fixed lines and almost 24m broadband users. The new unit will receive a 3G license. The CEO will be Chan Xiaobing , the current China Unicom CEO. The merger is planned to close in mid-October.
