Worldwide IT spending would increase by 5.7% in 2008, but down from over 7% last year. 1Q08 IT spending were in line with the forecast, underscoring a global deceleration, driven by slowdown in demand and stagnant economy. Surprisingly, IDC continues to forecast an increase in the US hardware market of under 2% , an US software spending increase of 7% and IT services of 5%. International markets seem more impacted by the US slowdown. For EU, IDC has reduced its forecast to 4.1% growth in IT spending; and for APAC, the figure is +5.4%.
