Worldwide PC sales amounted to almost 70m units in 1Q08, up 14.5%, and the growth was driven by laptops. But sales began to be impacted by the economical weakness in the North American market that lost two points in market share to 23% and only grew by 3.5%. Outside-NA sales were better than expected. European sales grew by about 15%, despite economical environment and sharp pricing pressure. HP leads the global market with about 18%, followed by Dell with 14% and Acer with almost 10%. In the NA market Dell increased its market share by 3.5 points to over 31%, while HP lost almost one point to 25%. In Europe, HP is the leader with a 20% market share, ahead of ACER with almost 15% and Dell with above 11%.
