Golden Telecom (Russia), now part of Vimpelcom, reports strong results with 2007 net income at $153m (+78.5%) on revenues of $1.3bn (+52%).
CANTV (Venezuela) said its 4Q07 net profit fell 57% to $77m and its 2007 net profit fell 9% to $50m.
Hutchinson Telecom (HK) has reported record 2007 profit of $8.7bn (thanks to disposals in India), on revenues of $2.6bn (+14%) and EBITDA of $674m.
MTN (S. Africa) announced strong financial results with group revenues increasing 42% to $9.1bn, while EBITDA grew by 42% to $4bn.
China Mobile reports 2007 revenues of $50.5bn (+21%) and net profit increased 32% to $12.3bn. China Mobile increased its 2008 capital spending estimate to $18bn (+21%).
OTE (Greece) said its 2007 net profit rose 78% to €230m, on revenues up 3% to €1.6bn.
Sony Ericsson has lowered its 1Q08 sales and income, due to slowing growth in the handset market and component shortages for mid-priced phones. SE plans to ship now 22m units (down 15%) at an ASP of $189 (down 4%).
Siemens announced a profit warning due to weaker-than-expected performance in its major business projects and the loss of a major IT order in the UK. The stock was down some 17% in Frankfurt. Siemens had launched an extensive review of its major products. Siemens also said it will reorganize its telecom unit (mainly enterprise gear) as it prepares to get out of the business.
ZTE' s 2007 net profit jumped 75% to €113m on revenues of €3.1bn (of which 58% abroad and 42% in China). Export sales jumped 95% while domestic sales grew 14% in 2007. Growth was driven by mobile handsets, optical and mobile gear. Wireline assess sales were down over 40%.
