A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to Idate, there were 310m broadband customers in the world at the end of June 07 (more or less in line with stats from Point Topic published last week (Telcoflash Issue 191).

  • According to Insight Research, the global telecom sector is likely to witness a heavy increase in revenues and reach $1.7tr in 2008 (from $1.2tr in 2007) and would reach $2.7tr by 2013.

  • According to GSA, mobile devices using LTE Terrestrial Radio Access Network (LTE-TRAN) specification could be available by 2009 or 2010. LTE TRANS specs have now been approved by the 3GPP.

  • In-Stat predicts that there would be 4.7m cellular base stations in operation by 2011.

  • According to Juniper Research, the global mobile entertainment market would rise from just over $20bn in 2007 to more than $64bn by 2012. Mobile gaming would triple to $16bn in 2012.

  • ABI Research predicts that there would be 462m mobile TV customers in five years, a growth driven by the expansion of 3G networks and flat-rate plans for mobile video.

  • According to Analysys Research, femtocells may flourish in the next five years.
