Samsung (S. Korea) announced 4Q07 profit is down 6.6%. 2007 net income was $7.9bn, down 6%, on sales of $67.6bn, up 7%. It sold 161m (+41%) mobile phone in 2007 and targets 200m units in 2008. 2007 telecom sales reached $21bn, up 7%, with an operating profit of $2.3bn, up 22% and an operating margin of 11%.

Sony Ericsson reports 4Q07 revenues of €3.8bn (flat) and pretax profit of €501m (flat), but net earning were down 17% to €373m. Full-year revenues were up 18% and net profit up 12% to €1.1bn. Sony Ericsson shipped almost 31m handsets in the fourth quarter and over 103m in 2007. SE has a 9% mobile phone market share, and targets the third place within 36 months.

Goldman Sachs lowered its estimates on Motorola while RBC Capital Markets reduced its price target on Nortel Networks, but RBC Capital Markets raised its rating on Nokia to outperform .

UBS bet that 2008 could be the year Tellabs gets acquired.
