3G in Europe

Publié le par Jean Arnal

The 3G subscriber base reached 68m in Europe at the end of September. This is almost 10% penetration, and net additions in the quarter totaled over 9m. Growth has been almost 86%, versus a poor 8% growth in pure 2G connections to almost 631m. As a result, the number of new UMTS connections is close to the number of new 2G connections. Total mobile connections in Europe are about 700m, of which only about 1m is not GSM-based. (CDMA and Analog).
