At the end of 2Q07, APAC reached 1.2bn mobile subscribers, with three dominant countries: China with almost 500m, India with over 175m and Japan with about 110m. China and India also dominate the market in terms of new subscriptions: +75m in 1H07 and +71m respectively. More than 16 operators added 5m+ new subscribers in six months: China Mobile added 58.6m; Bharti added 20m, ahead of China Unicom with 16.5m. Then Telkomsel added 13m, Vodafone India, BSNL, and Reliance followed. Pakistan Mobile added 9.3m, ahead of Idea with 7.6m and Telenor Pakistan with 7.5m.
